  • The indigenously designed and developed Kaveri Engine was successfully flight tested on an IL76 by DRDO yesterday during the Flying Test Bed (FTB) Trials at Gromov Flight Research Institute (GFRI), Moscow, Russia.

K9 version of Kaveri engine was tested from take-off to landing and flew for a period of over one hour up to at an altitude of 6000m at a speed of 0.6 mach on its maiden flight. The engine control, engine performance and engine health during the flight were found to be excellent

  • Tejas Mk1 Initial operational clearance by early 2011

Indian air force has ordered 40 Tejas Mark 1 and Indian Navy some more Tejas mark 1.

We are also looking at 100 Tejas Mark 2 for Indian air force and at least 50 Tejas Mark 2 for Indian Navy

In total, we are looking at least 200 to 250 Tejas for both Indian air force and Navy for both mark1 and mark 2 versions.

Next step is AMCA (Advanced medium combat stealth aircraft). I hope kaveri gets ready for this twin engined beast.

  • Indian Defence company HAL is ranked 34 Out of top 100 best defence company in the world. I can't even find single chinese company in the world.

Sources : defensenews (dot) com. It's an official defence ranking website for US.

Kash can you tell me about j-17 jointly developed by China and Pakis?

  • sure !! JF 17 was funded partly or fully by Pakistan. China just ripped off F16 design and asked Russia to provide engines RD-33 for J-F17s.

Paint job also done by Pakistan. PLAAF refused to induct JF-17, since they know what it was all about.

  • Sorry, It is not RD-33 but RD-93 Russian engine. Schedule times 2006-2011. Contract for delivery of 100 RD-93 engines in 2006- 2008 for Chinese aircrafts FC-1 was signed in 2005 with Russia.

  • The Mark 2 will have a more powerful engine, refined aerodynamics.

  • @ aashish1703

they bought a bunch of tavor rifles from israel, and i think they might license make some micro tavors, but think these will mostly go to the special forces and border guards, other then that i think the insas will stay

  • would be the perfect replacement for our ageing mirage 111 fleet! greetings from Argentina.

  • cool...i heard tht indian army will be getting new assault rifles...better than insas...can u tell me when it'll b possible ?

  • Is India developing any commercial airliners? What is the yearly budget for HAL and what is the yearly budget for NASA?

  • sure !! SRBMs and MRBMs can be intercepted with PAD and AAD. India is also working on AD-1 and AD-2 to intercept IRBMs and ICBMs. We are also working on ABV kill vehicles to intercept ballistic missiles with multiple warheads.

India is also working on laser

(BARC 5000)to intercept the boost phase of the ballistic missiles.
