This is a video that was recorded on Christmas morning, Dec. 2011 at my wife's parent's home in Visalia, CA. It is the result of almost a year's worth of stressful, sneaky planning and exhausting, dedicated saving by her.

This gift is for the restoration of my 1979 Tenth Anniversary Trans Am which fell into, let's say... the back of the line in terms of priority and road readiness. Many years of home remodeling projects and other activities overshadowed my 'silver bullet' and it was in the past year that I have wanted to turn my attention back on her. Realizing also that the time had come, Pam (aka Jewel) jumped into action around my birthday in February to work a plan that would get the needed funds together to jumpstart the restoration project and see it through. As we had previously 'agreed' to NO Christmas gift giving between us this year, the look of shock on my face and my sometimes sluggish actions in disbelief are real.

Needless to say, the whole event was very surreal and I am very thankful for my supportive family and the efforts put forth to make this happen. Including my father-in-law's (retired cop) protection of the funds while 'packing heat' as the cash was transferred from the secret bank account and back! I can't thank you enough and I am proud to have you all in my life... I am forever touched and grateful!
Let the 'Phoenix Rising' project begin!

(Note: Video title card sequence produced using Windows Movie Maker.)
Photo at the beginning is how the Trams Am sits in my garage today. The 'after' photo is how it will look when completed.

CAR HISTORY: Bought in Abilene, Texas at Pioneer Pontiac in Sept. 1981 with 36,000 miles on it. I am the 2nd owner. Current mileage: 156,000 miles Current home: Renton, WA

This car is truly a 'used car' and I have no regrets as it has been so-o much fun to drive. Many miles were spent barreling across Texas and New Mexico 'open top' through gorgeous sunny days and starlit summer nights. Unfortunately, the West Texas sun literally baked the silver metallic paint off and I sanded and primered the fenders for protection. I also have driven this car into Juarez, Mexico and Vancouver, Canada. So, call it a well-traveled survivor with three countries under its frame. A fun car that will soon ride again!
