This looks great. I ticks all the boxes for me. I see why the pod only has two seats behind each other - because at 100mph aerodynamics becomes an issue. However, I tend to think that in many cases 4-person pod would be nice.. think about family with two kids or two persons with huge trolley bags.

SkyTran website doesn't say much. It would be interesting to know how the projects are going in these "Sweden, Finland and Florida" locations - four years later.

I would MUCH rather see a state-wide SkyTran system than a bullet train. Having met with the people in the video, they've told me that SkyTran can make the trip from L.A. to S.F., non-stop, in two hours and 38 minutes -- almost exactly the same time as massively more expensive start-stop-start 'high-speed' rail system. Having seen this system, I doubt I will ever ride the bull___t train!

I like the idea of this, but I think a lower speed magnetic induction system would be better for starters.  I don't know if I would feel safe going 100mph in such new technology. Ps brettah31 maglev power Comes from the track:)

Any one know where the power comes from in these things? It seems as though the propulsion energy comes from the car itself, but that would require an energy storage system. If so, what is the range on these things?

Yes, but at the same time I would still want to get a Lamborghini. And that is the problem. Cars have aesthetic value that people still hold high in demand in society today, and people like that control. In my opinion, I agree with you, but people's views are subjective. Others may rather use the car. Until that mentality shifts, it wont get huge support.

Because that would give the impression that it is more popular or a higher demand exists than their really is. Rather, oil industries, ethanol, and other fuel sources should NOT be subsidized. The problem is we have subsidies in other industries now, get rid of them to level the playing field rather than add new ones. Plus, knowing the government will make up for your slack will lead to a moral hazard in which skytran would be less motivated to compete with other popular technologies.

Apart from the big auto and oil lobby (which I happen to have a real problem with, anyway) why shouldn't the government subsidize a system such as this? The research has been done, (THERE'S several BILLION saved already) It would "create or save" millions of jobs, including out-of -work Detroit auto workers, and be a much needed shot in the arm for our economy.

I think the only reason it wouldn't happen is because not enough sensible people got behind it, Let me ask this question. If you could get on a system like this that took you from within a quarter mile of your home to within a quarter mile of your destination, rapidly, safely, cost effectively, and non-stop, would you be willing to give up driving?

ive looked at quite a few prt systems like this and i think that the skytran system is the best of them. fast, simple, good looking and we could place them all over the country and have one massive connected servise
