Do you think I should TRY and translate Harry Potter's first book (....And The Philosopher's / Sorceror's Stone) by J.K. Rowling into Kernewek (Cornish). They've done it in Latin and Ancient Greek for Pete's sake!
Anyway, comment and tell me what you think please!

it'd be awsome, and possibly another reason why i should get off my ass and learn Kernewek!

  • Meur ras - thank you. I've actually started but I'll need a lot of time. Good for you in wanting to learn your language thought

  • Good luck with your project, Stecymru! I'm studying Celtic Studies too and last month one of our older friends celebrated her 20th birthday, so we actually bought her the Welsh one! :) I sneaked a peak though and it was amazingly done - at least from what I could make out. I'm not fluent in Welsh - I've just started learning it, but I think your language is very melodic and beautiful. Keep it alive! :) Cymru am byth!

  • I wanna get the Welsh version.

  • so its been quite a while since you did this video, did you ever finish the translation?

  • Hope you go for it! :D

  • Well Kernewek has native speakers again now (if not many). There's a lot of work to be done (by people such as yourself!) to help it grow again, but it's a living language, that's relevant in a way Greek and Latin can't be. So yeah! keep working.

  • Yeah lol, I have Harry Potter agus an Orcloch, the Irish version. XD I've never really read it... I just have it because I wouldn't have felt right without it.

  • If you need translations of particular words, like "philosopher" for instance, send me a message and I'll check them in my university's library which has all the dictionaries. Good luck!
