Owned & Operated is a mosaic of the world through the lens of the internet. Showing our lives as consumers, under the thumbs of privileged individuals and their methods of control. But the world is awakening, and the experience is something outside the normal rules of social interaction, causing excitement in those who are not served by the current system... and fear in those who are pampered by it.

This documentary attempts to present these events using the video, audio and written content uploaded to the internet by the collective human consciousness comprised of every individual participant.

Oh yes, change is coming... and it will be more dramatic than anybody can imagine.

I think "real" communism hasn't been really practiced and realized on this planet. I still have confidence in the term "socialism, communism", and these ideals Marx came up with is still worth pursuing.

And you're right, the communism in China is actually just another mutation form of capitalism with dictatorship. However, even though Western democracy might be "fake" democracy to some extent, I think at least it's still better and advanced than the social condition in China.

Dear friend, we all are slaves in one way or another. The west is just at the other end of the production line. After all, communism is just absolute monopoly capitalism, where the state is the only corporation and there's no need for publicity and glitter to capture your eyes. I live in Romania and we had communism until 1990 here, so I can totally relate to how the Chinese people must be feeling.

Thank you for your explanation by using the key word "slaves" and "slavery" so that I can figure out the proper Chinese translation. Also thank you for making this kind of work, I'll try my best to translate this movie into Chinese since I think it enlightening and important. In Eastern countries here, we seldom have documentaries like your kind or other socially critical ones. You're right China is still pretty much in the state of slavery, and I hope one day the world can really change. :D

It means, to me at least, that humans are slaves and are used by others. If nothing, slavery is the word. It is pretty much what happens in mainland China (especially east) today, where people are treated as cattle. My suggestion is find some expression that characterizes it. Think of what poor people at Foxconn, with those anti suicidal safety nets must be feeling like. China needs this movie more then ever.
