@rippasama different things work at different time. Sometimes I can't get the rag to work no matter what I do and have to use a J shaped hook. Other times, the rag is the only thing that I can get it off with.

Thanks for the video. I managed to open the window crank fine... I just used a normal flat head screw driver :)

the shirt trick wouldnt work for me, the paper clip way didnt work, i got an idea from another guys vid that had made a crank removal tool out of sheet metal, so with no sheet metal i find another suitable substitute, i cut about a 3/4 inch sq square out of a blank data cd, used like the tool, worked perfect, so was suggesting you make a vid showing it cuz i have no camera and it was just great
