Because most Remington Rolling Block rifles were shot using black powder cartridges, it was imperative they be cleaned at the end of each day. Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, demonstrates the process for field stripping a rolling block rifle for cleaning.

  • Larry Potterfield, 2012!

  • It's still a very impressive piece of engineering.

  • Using this for a guide on using the Rolling Block in a post-apocalyptic scenario. Thanks!

  • oh larry! have you been on the pot again?! lol

  • Larrys a legend !

  • @kpadmirer you need to clean a black powder gun i fired or it will rust

  • @docjk1776 It seems to have a model #1 action.

  • Does anybody know what model this rolling block it is?

  • Maybe that's why most rolling blocks I've encountered have loose actions. All that assembling and disassembling wears them out worse than shooting them. I had a 7mm Mauser model that gave me separated heads all the time.
