Its all a bit hollow isn't it. I hope these people havent eaten animals that were raised in feedlots in battery cages or on hog farms. Let Christians pray for these poor animals in these hell-like places, and if they want to do something really worthwhile let them bless those who seek to liberate them. Jesus is coming, and its going terror for those who are unmerciful and inconsiderate of the sufferings of beast and bird, just as he will make it hell for those without due concern for humans.
pagan-schmagan....who cares what the 'critics' say.
these same people wouldn probably not like or understand St Francis himself and most likely call him- 'pagan' too.
some people don't have a problem criticising beautiful things like this that not only show our love for God's creation (a comandment from the Torah), but love for one another...and in showing love for the animals people love and care for, who are you showing your love towards as well i wonder?
The ceremony is in the spirit of St. Francis, who loved animals. You may call it a pagan ceremony if you wish, and perhaps neo-pagans do similar things, but it is most definitely a Christian ceremony. As for the Jewish man, God bless him. Jews and Christians share many things. My Lord was a Jew as were all of his earliest followers.
