Been too busy to play more bossa. There are A LOT of better versions of this song on youtube haha, but i interpret it differently, more as an american jazz standard than its bossa original. I am still learning, I hope you guys like it anyway. Arrangement by Mike Christiansen. Search for his books.

the most popular song by Brazilian composers, Luiz Bonfá and Antonio Maria. The song appeared in the 1959 Portuguese-language film Orfeu Negro (English titled: Black Orpheus), by French director Marcel Camus based on a play by Vinícius de Moraes. Specially in the USA, the song is considered to be one of the most important Brazilian Jazz/Bossa songs that helped establish the Bossa Nova movement in the late 1950s. Manhã de Carnaval has become a jazz standard in the USA, while it is still performed regularly by a wide variety of musicians around the world in its vocalized version or just as an instrumental one. -WIKI

  • Not a criticism at all.

  • yes i know :) thank you

  • Nice vid. you're not off-putting to look at while playing. nice sound. but i think the 4/4 feel makes the song float more within the bars than this 'reggae' feel.

  • I don't really understand the 'reggae' feel mentioned earlier, i dont understand how i sound reggae in this video haha

  • its a Brazilian Bosanova...it's supposed to have a slow tempo; written in 2/2 time rather than most people who think it's 4/4

  • thank you! and you have very right, bossa has always been slow.
