Haiti, what's next?

Mo MoneyMo Money for Haiti and Troops, American troops on the ground in Haiti amidst Looting. Looting? Its almost like New Orleans after Katrina or any large city during a power outage or celebrating a win by a major league sports team.
Look if I am forced to go without food or safe water to drink for almost a week, if I dont have anything but what I am wearing, I have no shelter or place to go, no way to clean up and have to put tooth paste under my nose to cover up the smell of decaying bodies all the while aid is on the ground a short distance away, well I am pretty sure I would also resort to looting.
Millions of dollars have already been pledged for aid and while it is commendable to see people come together globally to help it is also a sad statement that governments are more reluctant and willing to help with humanitarian aid than with funding wars or bailing out major financial corporations.
Canada gave 10 billion to General Motors while the USA has already given 100s of billion without any strings attached to Wall Street elite.
I dont believe that the troops being sent by the USA or Canada will be departing soon from Haiti; security is grounds for a prolonged occupation. Setting up a base or bases for 10,000 or more US troops and thousands of Canadian troops will not be done for short term help, the logistics means a prolonged deployment and possible ulterior motives emerge.
For one, Venezuela is building military alliances with Russia and economic alliances with China, perhaps fear of Central American countries following course might be a reason to view US motives with caution.
The media will soon leave Haiti as the Winter Games and other stories take dominance and once again the Haitians will be alone except now with the presence of foreign military on their soil.
Call it what you will, it will be an occupation and the clusterf#*k to rebuild Haiti will bog down in red tape and self interest.
Its strange that there are people making 100s of millions of dollars per year while so many people are living in abstract poverty and dying.

For the most part you are very right. But instead of building a typical sewer system, they should build them to harvest the methane for fuel. This will help keep the ground water clean. The left over waste can be composted down for a fertilizer for crops. They also need to learn small space gardening and geodesic building. Domes are a stronger structure. If the people there clean it up they will be more willing to continue to care for it.

the problem is committees with self interest guiding them, it's the same in politics, military and charities. The saying is to many chiefs and not enough Indians.

Well, another fine mess the USA has got itself into. I guess now the Haitians expect the dumb ole USA to rebuild their country. Why can't we be smart like Germany, which gave 1.4 million. We will have to give billions and babysit these....uh, sava....I mean Haitians for the next 1000 years. I am waiting for some idiot politician to suggest we make Haiti a territory of the USA or worse yet, a US state, just what we need. The USA is run by the weirdest people.

-They figure haiti since they need it later

-They occupy

-Get everyone hooked on GMO from coprperate basterds

-They send some aid

-But make billions of dollars on profits in the meanwhile

- They already send there doctors to do human test with new medicines for pharmaceuticals that are laced with cancer

Criticism of the people giving aid to Haiti is rightly deserved. As far as the Haitians go, it takes a bit of understanding. These people being the descendants of slaves that fought for their freedom never adopted a very important mindset. That you better yourself and then help lift up those around you. They live in a dog eat dog world. Asian immigrants to America are well known to lift each other up to better their lives as a community. The Haitians that better themselves often leave Haiti.
