I would defiantly call this mediocre and I love Patti Smith, she completely changed Gloria and made it her own, she doesn't do that here. She slowed down smelled like teen spirit and added some high notes and quirky singing but it fails here. U2 gave this a bitter sweet feel, this is all bitter. I hope this is not her 'Hurt' because I believe she can do better and why? Because this is the first Patti cover I've heard were I was constantly aware that it was a cover.

holy crap I'll say. Gorgeous. Sorry I listened to this one last on the cover album, but I suppose it's good in a way. She shows so many of the others to be junior varsity.

I don't really like it... I'm not a troll or anything, and obviously the cover isn't never even better than the real thing (hah!) but this is my favorite U2 song.
