  • Over rated never!!!!

Great Global player and winner (Unlike most Americans) who drew huge Galleries for his style of play and huge potential for low scores which lit up most tournaments, yes he blew a fair few majors but why not acknowledge his brilliance in leading or challenging for so many in the 1st place, without Norman, Seve and the like putting the game on the map in the 80s/90s we would have to watch a load of Larry Nelsons, god that would be great, so exciting (sleep inducing)

  • @1957robroy

Yes he blew a fair few tournaments when up against it but over rated???

Probably one of the most gifted players to pick up a club and his peers say the same, hugely talented with an unmatched all round game when at his best hence 331 weeks as world no1, dont forget his ability to shoot the 63s and 64s to come from behind, under achiever springs to mind!

  • the guy is in seriously great shape for his age....

  • Greg Norman was the most overated golfer of his time. He was good for the game but when the chips were down he couldn't take the pressure. Seve, Nick, Jose Marie and a whole host of others had his measure. Not one of them lost the unloseable. And even if they did lose they didn,t look for excuses

  • hes a great aussie

  • The best golfers should be judged by win percentage. ie play in 100 tournaments win 20 of them win percentage = 20%. Period. If i had to guess Norman would be pretty close to the top.

  • Member of the United States team in the Ryder Cup 8 times -- in 1961, 1963, 1965, 1967, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1975, and a non-playing captain in 1979. Casper has scored the most points in the Ryder Cup by an American player.

Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1978.

That's one more major than Norman - and as far as I know he didn't lose any by CHOKING.

  • Casper's principal achievements include:

Three major championships: the 1959 and 1966 U.S. Opens, and the 1970 Masters Tournament.

51 PGA Tour wins: this puts him seventh on the all time list of golfers with most PGA Tour wins.

PGA Tour Money Winner in 1966 and 1968.

PGA Player of the Year in 1966 and 1970.

Won the Vardon Trophy for lowest scoring average five times: 1960, 1963, 1965, 1966, and 1968.

  • Billy Casper, Peter Thompson Henry Cotton, even Francis Ouimet were excellent golfers they were not even in the same realm as Norman in the majors:

    Norman Starts - 90

    Wins - 2

    2nd place finishes - 8

    Top 3 finishes - 14

    Top 5 finishes - 20

    Top 10 finishes - 30

Longest streak of top-10s in majors - 3 (3 times)

Also:Norman finished the season on top of the ranking list on seven occasions, in 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1995, 1996 and 1997, and was second at the end of 1988, 1993 and 1994.

  • Seve may not be able to hold a candle but he could win major championships, unlike poor old Greg. Oh, that's right - he was just unlucky, wasn't he?
