    The technique is actually from 1999 (probably even older, since it is extremely difficult to publish an article in SIGGRAPH, and it might not have been their first try). You'd probably find an open source implementation somewhere, since it doesn't seem to be such a difficult algorithm.

    that's why I never watch anything that comes with the caption recently found or found again or rediscovered etc. no such things exist. In the 19th century every good invention was preceded or followed by dozen of hoaxes.Most of them are still accepted as facts.
