I completed this remix in a few hours on Valentines Day 2009. I can't get this clever track from the incomparable Imogen Heap out of my head. Imogen posted the vocal stems to this track and invited her fans to remix it. Imogen did not provide any information about what key it was in, or how she approached the track. This is what I heard, and fits in with the style (one of them at least) that I'm developing for my own material.

Aside from the percussion, there are only guitars. I actually forgot to put bass on the track, but I think it works for the few spare hours on a weekend to throw this together.

There is one instance of my nylon string guitar, and three instances of my acoustic. Everything was done on the first or second take.

I would love to be able to put live strings, play with the production more and also add some other instruments; this is just a very quick demo. I would love to have the time to make a proper version of this track - additional backgrounds, counter melodies, different elements and colors. We shall see!

Now, time to work on my own record!

  • Tell me, is there ANY other artist out there who would invite fans to do a remix of their song?

    I can't think of any!

  • alos, another reason why I like it vs. the other versions is because...this was like a "happy" take vs. the other ones that were done more seriously.

  • @pheenix42 Yes. Amanda Palmer. :)

  • @aznpower2001

Another good "happy" remix of this is the I Fight Dragons version. It's a bit heavier in terms of music, given that their a chiptune/rock band, but it sounds really catchy.

  • Her voice is so beautiful and pure, sounds great in this happy tune : D

  • @MickeyLBrown Again, I stand corrected...thank you! =D

  • @pheenix42

There's a few. Linkin park, daft punk, 50 cent or dr.dre (can't remember which. Song starts out "this ones for all you producers!"), gorillaz, nine inch nails, etc...

  • So beautiful...Thank you Imogen! :-)

  • Hey! all you have to do is copy the URL and paste it here....video2mp3(dot)net........ and you will be able to download this song for free right to your PC. I was a skeptic at first but this really works great with those songs that are rare and you cannot find anywhere else...oh ya, you're welcome :)

  • @pheenix42 lol it's ok no need to apologize :) yeah they did their last album as a free online download and they asked for donations and shortly after they decided to release the songs turned into different bits (strings,vocals,drums,fx....etc) and people could make their own remixes and then send it to them(radiohead) and they would rate them and I believe they wanted to release their favorites remixes in an album but I'm not sure what happened in the end.

  • @luisnoel Ahh, did they? Well, then, I spoke out of ignorance...thanks for the info! (^_^)

  • @pheenix42 Radiohead did actually they did it before immi did :D
