Got my Dec. 1941 M1 "Garand" Rifle, showing how to reload mid clip, however when the clip has less than 4 rounds left it is easier just to pop the clip out and put a fresh one in. Also a partial clip can be loaded into the rifle by being sure that the follower is pushed down a bit and pulling the bolt back then letting it go while stripping a round from the clip. You can see why the troops must have loved the Garand so much, being so easy to maintain and the ease of operation.

I might also add that the reason the gas operation stretches right to the end of the rifle is so that the bullet leaves the barrel before the controlled explosion starts pushing the op rod back; rotating the bolt out of battery and allowing it to be pushed back by the rod. A great design, made largely by Canadian born John C Garand, and masterfully utilized by brave troops during the second World War, Korea, and part of Vietnam.

The M14 is based off this rifle, the M1 Carbine bolt/op rod is similar however the magazine, stock, gas operation, and trigger assembly is quite different. As for the Mini-14 unfortunately I've yet to handle one, however I intend to make it my first .223 when I decide to pick one up.

I mention that I have a reload set up now, it consists of IMR 4064 powder, Lee Hand Press, Lee .30-06 Die set w/ crimp, Winchester rifle primers, and 150gr spitzer FMJ bullets for .30-06. I also have a chronograph to check the muzzle velocity at the range to make sure it's all to M2 Ball Spec which is what the M1 rifle is designed to shoot. Stil learning and getting a feel for what this hobby is all about, but so far it's quite enjoyable and cheap. "Modern Reloading - Second Edition" by Richard Lee seems to be a great reloading book. Lots of info!

  • @NormanMatchem actually he was 48 when he made the rifle. 7 when he came to the US. so for 41 years all his new cells that were produced in his body as he grew up were born in america. therefore 15% if him is canadian the rest is american. now add on the fact he has american citizenship - 5% he is 90% american and 10% american. simple math my friend =)

  • @mrarches I see you've already posted that comment on my channel and it has nothing to do with the video whatsoever so I'm gonna delete it.

  • @mrarches It's no different than anything else you say. It's all nonsense, and your very bad at trolling. Thanks for proving further that your nothing more than a liar who wishes to troll and spread misinformation :) Keep it up, it helps in showing that prohibitionists are idiots, and legalizers are telling the truth lol By the way, one more week til cannabis is legalized in Ontario lol Told you your fighting a losing battle, however with so many people waking up to the truth, I say you lost.

  • @mrarches Haha I have never shot an animal with so much as a bb gun before lol fail troll is fail. Cannabis does not lead to violence, alcohol sometimes does that, and prohibition always leads to crime. There is nothing wrong with hunting however, it is a necessity for survival. How do you think they get meat in the grocery store, or chicken at KFC? Why do anti-pot activists love violence so much? Look at your vids, do you really get off on people beating the snot out of eachther? tsk tsk
