Baby at 12 weeks:
While your baby's brain is not the same size it will be at birth, it does have the same structure. Bile is being secreted. She weighs about 14 grams and is approximately 3.54 inches long!
Your baby has her reflexes. All this is in preparation for extrauterine life. By this point, nearly all of her organs and structures are formed. Fingers and toes have separated, and hair and nails are growing. Baby's genitals are taking on gender characteristics. Her kidneys are producing and excreting urine. The muscles of her intestinal wall are practicing peristalsis - contractions within the intestine that digest food. (Poop practice!)
