gosh, jason fleming, he doesn't look like himself in this production
-
who plays alec in this version?

Justine Waddell provides a fiery 'Tess', which I gather Nicholls wanted for the revamped 2008 version. She realistically portrays a 'Tess' who is a independent but believably fallible. 2008 high pitched 'innocent' Tess seems too tough, modern and knowing and the 'taken advantage of' scene turned into rape doesn't fit.
If it ain't broke.....
But I DID like 2008 Angel and here too. DIdn't quite get Peter Firth option.
IMHO

Jason Flemyng did a brilliant job with Alec! As did Justine.... Just brilliant acting!

The young lasses those days were quite dumb...or should I say silly...and easily taken advantage of. She actually bought into the family story of being from the genteel by name and so thought she could make her fortune that way...look how she quickly trusted that bounder over the other gals who were more her class. The real drama now begins after that "jaunt" in the oldest part of the forest! Love the movie so far and it quite approximates the book!
The guy is just plain ol creeeeepy!!!
