The reason was simple Robert never put any women ahead of Anna, Not even Holly came first with him it was always his Anna first off she was the only women he married for love not once but twice even Holly was to keep her in the country,

Anna held a torch for Robert forever until she married Duke but even then she still knew in her heart she still loved Robert he just wouldnt forgive her.
