Situated just north of Chesterfield, Old Whittington has a Victorian church with a small ring of six bells. They were cast by Taylors in the same year as they produced York Minster's 12... 1925 (the treble added in 1945). The tenor weighs 5-0-20 (263kg). They are an outstanding little ring, being superb tonally and acoustically clear in the ringing chamber.

Here are some sections of a practice night in 2009. Both of these videos have been on YouTube in the past separately... I have decided to utilise YouTube's recently introduced video editing features to attatch both the bits of video together into one.

  • Brilliant, such a cheerful sound.

  • Taylors at thier best...

  • It's wonderful!:-)

  • @topshed34a Stratford-sub-Castle near Salisbury instantly comes to mind. They are the same weight (¾cwt heavier) and apart from the 4 are all 1998 Whitechapel. They are also a lovely little ring. These sound delightful, though!!

  • What a fantastic sounding ring :-)

  • Lovely!
