Joseph Schwantner's Velocities performed by Tomasz Kowalczyk at the Goodwin Recital Hall of the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

About Velocities:
"The music, as the title suggests, is characterized by continuously changing textures of rapidly articulated pitches within a framework of continually shifting meters. The linear, harmonic and gestural elements of the work are derived from a series of four, five, six and seven note pitch sets."

  • @ggoberwestern: Agreed! The problem with Velocities I feel is most people perform it way too fast and as a result most of the time note accuracy and melodic interpretation suffers. Check out the Filippo Lattanzi recording of Velocities it is similiar to this and it sounds really good.

  • Hey great job. I like that you didn't play it at 61613514 bpm. It lets the piece breathe a lot more, not that there isn't something to be said for playing it at 170. I just like your interpretation a lot.

  • this is thuper thal!!
