President Obama told reporters in Turkey that America is not defined by any one religion. Ive said before that one of the great strengths of the United States is, although, as I mentioned we have a very large Christian population. We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values, said the President.

This video is from CNNs American Morning, broadcast Apr. 6, 2009.

  • @TheAtilla1071 Turkey is a secular state, forever.

  • @Toxologie That's an unkind thing to say. We can disagree with President Obama without using unwholesome, vulgar language. You hardly uphold the claim about the U.S. being a Christian nation when you sound ugly.

I am a Christian, but if I were not a Christian and I read your statement, I don't know that I would be attracted to your Christ.

  • more of Obama's propoganda, America IS a Christian nation

  • It's a funny point that Islamists always talk about morality but they can't stop swearing, using amusing words which are quite far away from morality, just like @WinkyMaeve. That's why all the world wants to get rid of them. You are not welcome here in Republic of Turkey. If you really wanna live in a country which is being governed by religious rules, go live in Iran or Afghanistan, but democratic, secular and free Turkey is not for you. Turkish people no longer want an Islamic country.

  • @WinkyMaeve Hahahahahhahahahaha yazik ya :) Laf masturbasyonuna devam et sen, kendini tatmin et boyle seylerle :)

    PKK forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DissonantHarmonics According to Frank Lambert, Professor of History at Purdue University, the assurances in Article 11 were "intended to allay the fears of the Muslim state by insisting that religion would not govern how the treaty was interpreted and enforced. John Adams and the Senate made clear that the pact was between two sovereign states, not between two religious powers."
