Google Maps Navigation can be accessed via car dock mode on Android 2.0 phones. For certain devices, placing your phone in a car dock activates a special mode that makes it easy to use your device at arm's length.

My Garmin Nuvi finally gave out. Realized Google Maps and Navigator blows it away and is Free with Android for my Droid Bionic which has way more Power and Features..!
Got the Droid Car Dock and very impressed - bye bye Garmins.

Question ? yes or no ? is there anyway to view google maps exactly the way a (tom tom) or (garmin) can be viewed -> street view exact turn by turn but without the actual car dock ? i dont care for the blue beacon signal thingy, i'd rather car dock mode only. If i gotta buy it i will, just asking if it could be done or not by clicking an option i haven't already done yet ?

@Unews2009 Verizon has the best phones especially if you want Android phones. AT&T has nothing good besides the iPhone. Sprint is best if you want a fast network. Just depends on your preferences. I stick with Verizon personally because I love their phones the best.

i believe once u set the route that u want to (in online mode either wifi or mobile data), u can continue using the navigator even in offline mode because it has got the map cache in ur phone...it works for me in short distance journey, never try it on a long one..

How does one avoid toll roads in google maps for Verizon Droid 2.0.1? It keeps trying to get me to turn around for a couple miles before it figures out that I am not going to go where it wants me to

This app has been released for Android 1.6, which covers every Android phone that isn't the Droid and isn't on 1.5 still, and includes everything but the car mode. So Dream, Magic and others have got most of what 2.0 users get. Plus I heard that 2.0 (or 2.1 by then) will be coming to the Hero/Droid Eris

Google probably wont give it to Apple App store.
Apple took away 1 of their products before...
Let Apple BEG for a superior app... one of many they had nothing to do with but wish to charge fees to developers for saying it can run in an apple environment!

if its only on the motorola droid, which so far i believe it is. verizon requires an unlimited data plan just to use the device so no sweat there.
