best thing to cut the truss rode channel is a router most routers have a guid so it cuts the slot strait down the length of the neck.

so yer basically just try an get hold of a router if you can best not to cut it all in one go unless you'v got like an industrial monster router :D cut abit an then move the router depth down an cut abit more till it's deep inuf to fit the truss rod.
