CSXT Q406 flies north on its way to Philly with my first CSX ES44DC/ES44AC combo! This was a fairly long train. I heard from a friend that this train has been known to exceed 9,000 feet long.

  • NS is also purchasing ES44ACs

  • Yeah, but they're keeping them in the Pokey District area unfortunately. :(

I would, however, like to see CSXT and NS order the ES44C4 units like BNSF has.

CSXT's could be numbered from 5603-5693, and NS's could be numbered from 7800-7900. That would be sweet!

  • NS ES44AC units are actually numbered 8000-8023.

  • I know, but I'm saying if they got ES44C4 units, that would be a good numbering scheme for them.

  • sure thing.

  • OK, thanks "tipdripper"! :)

  • correction. they have some dash 7s, but theyre all B series dash 7s. those did come from seaboard. all the C series ones i believe have been retired.

  • Wow, I guess I got lucky seeing a C30-7 trailing at Rocky Mount back in 2005! Thanks for the info!

  • i know. guiness world record for the loudest cat meow. but what speaks for itself is how there isnt a single C30-7 left on CSX. in fact, i think all the dash 7s left are from the chessie family. virtually no seaboard GEs, but nearly every EMD dash 2 from SBD, SCL and L&N is still in service with no modifications, and most of the non dash 2s are still in service as slugs, including SCL 1582 from the video.

  • Yeah, I've seen those. My grandmother's dad worked for Seaboard Coast Line, but he's long gone now. I never got to meet him. It would've been cool, though. There's one video from e44e33 of the SCL at Collier with a very nasty-sounding Leslie S5T horn! YECH!
