Update to my home network. Brought everything down to the basement to help with the heat and noise. Replaced my Powerconnect 2748 with 2x PC 5324s. GlaDOS got a processor upgrade, more RAM, and a new OS (as well as some new hard drives). And a couple new additions, a Dell PowerEdge 1850 (Cortana) running ESXi, and a Watchguard Firebox X700e running pfSense 2.0 Beta4
You'd think with a CCNA you'd have a real switch.

@hmjgriffon Whats wrong with a 5324. It is a full layer 2 switch that is CLI managed, $175, and passes traffic just as fast as the Procurve 2910als I use at work for my edge switches. The only two things I can't do with it is stack (but I don't need that for my home network), and route VLANs (which I don't need because my pfSense box takes care of that). To be honest I can't think of a better gigabit switch that would be cheaper.

I have a few questions for you :D.
Just wondering what packages do u r recommended on pfsense. I'm currently running the 1.2.3 stable version. What is the purpose of the dmz line, in ur network & is it worth adding?
I plan 2 buy a 2xquad xeon poweredge server soon off ebay, to host a couple of vm's, w/ a few game servers(TF2, minecraft),a webserver. I also plan on creating a vpn 4 some uni mates so we can lan together.
Are there any recommandation you can make for me? I have a spare Q6600 too.

@AnThOnYrox8 For pfSense I run Snort and BandwidthD. The purpose of the DMZ is to separate all my web facing servers from my internal server so if they get hacked, they intruder can't get to my sensitive data. If you are hosting game server you should absolutely DMZ them. I would also recommend upgrading to pfSense 2.0 RC3.
