In this video we are moving a Bridgeport milling machine and a Clausing engine lathe. There is also a Lassy hand tapper that we unload too, but it's small enough for one person to handle. We recently won these items in an online auction of some liquidated Panduit property. We rented a truck that matched standard dock height, borrowed a pallet jack, and made sure the lift could hold the weight of the machines; which for the heaviest machine, the milling machine, is about 2200lbs. The sheets of plywood create a flat surface for us, make the move a lot easier. The straps are important when moving the mill. These types of milling machines are known for being very top heavy. If we didn't use the straps, the mill would have most likely fall over off of the lift.

I just moved an 1100 pound Clausing lathe by myself. I put it in the back of my half ton Tacoma pickup truck with a couple of come along hand winches, up a steep pair of 2X10 ramps. I used one tone Harbor Freight car dollies on the headstock and tailstock pedestals and strapped it down with nylon straps. I drove my 4WD Tacoma down the STEEP hill into my back yard and used the come alongs to pull it out and a one ton electric winch to lower it. Not without incident, but nobody was hurt.
