Where did you place the barbeque grill exactly? I really like the sound, i got a microwave thats gonna bust, i might do this.

if you want a lower frequency, the hole has to be (a lot) smaller...

The barbeque grill is resting loosely on the front-plate; I've attached it with wire. I had the experiment a bit to get the right kind of rattling effect.

Can you give some more details like
whats inside, and how you attached frontplate?

I used the existing holes in the microwave case to screw the wood to. And bits of wire to loosely attach the barbecue grill stuff so it hung behind the top of the wood and rattled nicely.

The BBQ grille is wired loosely to holes in the microwave casing so it hangs against the wood; it needs a bit of experimentation. The screw at the top is quite loose to allow everything to rattle a bit. Real cajone sound nicer, but this was a fun bit of recycling.

Glad you liked it. Mine had its first gig on Saturday, and a proper latin american musician recognised it as a cajon! Good luck with your project.
