Urban Soil Testing

It's not uncommon to find community gardens set up urban areas, especially on land once used for factories, dump sites, or repair shops. Whether you're planting in a community garden, or in an older home near the center of town, it's important to test your soil for contaminants. Ashley Harms, a research associate in the Department of Agronomy and Kansas State University, demonstrates how easy it is to collect some soil for testing.
