My wife and I were visiting the Daintree National Park in Queensland, Australia last year, and were lucky enough to see not one, but three Cassowaries in the wild!
First, one juvenile male Cassowary at a location where there had been a recent sighting. We were very surprised to find a second at the same site, which chased the first one off. Cassowaries are very territorial.
The second sighting was a pure fluke - we were driving back down out of the Daintree and I just happened to look down a river as we passed and saw a Cassowary in the middle of the water, drinking. We swung the car around for a better look.
