Some pictures, video and helmet cam video of my son driving at the first VKA event we've ever attended. It was run in Barnesville GA in March 2011. My son ran our 1961 Rupp Dart Kart powered by a stock West Bend 820 in the JR Sportsman Class. These young men and their family were all a class act and really made us feel at home. We put a GPS in Donald's pocket and after a race it showed he'd ran 45mph. They ran 3 heat races and he placed 3rd overall. If you listen closely during the helmet camera video, you can hear the clutch has broken a spring which makes the motor bog down in the turns. Now it's basically direct drive since the shoes can't retract and their keeping the clutch engaged. Thanks to Bob B, the track workers and officials for putting on such a fun and race packed event.

  • @YOUNGVICK313 no, it's a run what you brung format with cubic inch limitations for each class. I chose to run a stock engine since this was our first race and they were allowing my son to run our kart in the Jr class. Our 820 was larger than the 6.1 cid limitation the Jr class has. With that said, there was one hot Mac that smoked everyone!
