  • Congrats on going natural! I just went to Target today as well. I picked up some shea moisture products also and some kinky kurly knot today. I then also went to my local natural foods grocer.

I've been natural for some time now and its a balancing act as far as products are concerned. I'd say my essentials are: water, clarifying shampoo, oyin juices and berrys, oyin whipped pudding, oyin honey hemp, and shea moisture conditioning milk & hold and shine (in pink bottle)

  • @MissPrissJewels Aww, thanks for the feedback. I will definitely keep all of that in mind. I tried to make my own moisturizer with shea butter, aloe vera gel, tea tree oil and coconut oil and it smells awful. lol I can't bare to put it in my hair anymore because of the smell. I guess it's going to be a trial and error thing for me.

  • I used to use tea tree oil as a pre-poo conditioner to help sooth my scalp and it was good for that. Otherwise I've never been one to ave concentrated scents on my head (nothing too strong) it just drives me nuts! One idea is to save the tea tree for something like that or if you do use it, one or two drops is enough lol.

  • @ceecee757 yeah, I'm no pro at the whole shea butter mix thing. A few weeks ago I mixed some shea with a little bit of olive oil. I was a simple mix, but I loved it sooo much. My hair also loved it. Some naturalistas put tons of different oils and glycerin and all that stuff. But really my goal is to make my hair feel good. But I think the key is to read and know the ingredients in your regime all around. That way we aren't doubling up on too much of this or that.

  • Some of my natural essentials are, jojoba oil, coconut oil, olive oil, Castor oil and tlc!

I think of course each product serves a different purpose. But do keep in mind that many of the product lines are meant to be used in conjunction with one another (i.e. entire line of products together) to achieve the best results and healthy hair. When I apply my products, I generally use them in conjunction with a product from the same line (unless its an oil like coconut oil or something like that).

  • @SW33TNSASSY8 Thanks! I'm nervous and excited for my big chop.
