It is very ironically in history,She got famous in south Asia with her Taiwanese(Hokkien,Min nan) album while KMT were banning the language at that time. That's why people in Taiwan claim she is Taiwanese . yet Communist China tried to ban her Mandarin songs,but she conquered china unexpectedly. so Chinese people claim she is Chinese. as historially fact,both claim are right.

why are ppl always arguing on the name of Hokkien/Taiwanese? You can simply check on wikipedia or whatever source to see if they are the same language...

Pro-independence taiwanese call it taiwanese to seperate themselves from China.. But they cannot escape the fact that even ppl from singapore(ah du) know the language simply because its a chinese dialect..
