  • I've got nothing but respect for Bernard, he isn't a natural singer and he had to learn in the worse possible way, with the spotlight on him and trying to follow in the footsteps of one of the most charismatic singers of our generation who he could never hope to equal. I think it speaks volumes of his courage and his love of what he had achieved with Ian and the others that he carried on and become and attained what he has. He is also a brilliant guitarist.

  • Stephen Morris is a god.

  • @Iberotimuka True. He did eventually find his singing style which was quite different to that of Ian Curtis. I wonder if there are any other "reluctant" frontmen, who were thrown into the spotlight by circumstances

  • bernard sumer identic of jean cloud b¿vandame

  • They were definitely in transition here--no longer Joy Division, but not yet New Order. Still, this is a great song.

  • This was a great show - got photos somewhere - it was at a time when New Order was still in the Joy Division transition phase. I recall the place was so damn hot and humid

  • :) dam this song just takes me to a wierd zone that just blows my mind and i love every second of this song!!!

  • @Iberotimuka You put into words exactly what I was thinking this morning. Sometimes strength comes from necessity.

  • I love this song, and I like how Bernard and Gillian are alternating lead parts. I love Stephen's tribal drumming style in this song, and I always find Peter Hook's melodic guitar playing so unique. I think Bernard is great. Just look at how much he improved during the course of New Order. He had to juggle singing, lead playing, and songwriting, which is hard to do. Listen to the 1987 version of this song and you'll see how much better they got.
