Craig Day from KOTV - Tulsa spent a day with America's Cheapest Family (Steve and Annette Economides and their kids). We talk about our how we shop for groceries, clothes and how we maintain a comfortable frugal lifestyle. Craig had so much information to take back with him that he posted additional clips on different topics such as vacations, kids and money, contentment and others - view those in part 2

  • you guys are awesome! My family has always lived like this...in fact, my father recently sent me a receipt in which the store ended up having to pay him to buy his groceries (all the coupons). This can be done, but it does take work. Love this family. Oh, and as a side note, nice to see how incredibly positive everyone commenting is. Seriously. Perhaps you should get off the computer and do something that makes you happy cause you're spreading no joy here.

  • @teeleecee Thanks for sharing your story. Sounds like your Dad gave you a great gift by teaching you to be frugal. We just ignore the foolish comments. Everybody is at a different place in their financial journey, hopefully they will catch up some day. Be blessed and be happy.

  • Why even bother being so frugal when you can just go on government assistance, welfare, free housing and lifetime unemployment benefit. Obama and America encourages irresponsible behavior by giving taxpayer's dollars aways so you might as well save your time clipping coupon and just take what you can from taxpayers, relax sit back on your government funded housing and watch all those cable channels on that HD TV you bought from the welfare check.

  • @homogenic97 You're so right. It's really discouraging to the rest of the population who want to work and save and build a life. But we need to learn to enjoy life, often-times, in spite of what our "leaders" in Washington decide is best for the country. We think the best thing for our country would be for all of our leaders to have to live on the average income of the people in the state that they represent. . . . but, if they did, they'd get all of the thrift store bargains first!

  • I love shopping at thrift stores! Who cares if its used?!?? Most of the clothes and stuff have original price tags on it cause they were never worn or used! I like the way they run their household :)

  • @dr1345 they were buying name brand clothes not even worn lol I was with my grandma in a thrift store and got a Jordan belt brand new or 50 cents when it's 80 bucks at foot locker

  • holy shit I feel really bad for their kids. they are probably embarrassed as hell. can you fucking imagine going to that shitty thrift store shopping for a second-hand clothing like a bum? parents like that fuck you up for life. their kids will sure be paying for therapy in their future. thank god I grew up in a totally different family. my parents knew how to make money and weren't afraid to spend it, so we could lead a normal dignified life.

  • What Jew bags

  • @homogenic97 grow up tard there is no lifetime unemployment

  • I would rather spend more money on fresh, healthy foods that I enjoy than buying processed foods. Also, these shopping tips are great if you live in an area where you can get meat for $ 0.99 lb but where I live (Alaska) that just isn't going to happen! I agree that you can save money and buy used clothing, but having no debt is just as bad as having too much. You need debt to maintain a good credit score. I'd rather have good credit than a stocked pantry.

  • as inflation continues these methods will become harder to apply, wait and see

  • Cheap processed food is very unhealthy! If you are only paying a couple more dollars for healthy organic, fresh, or non processed food, I say work an extra half an hour or hour to make that few extra bux so you can be healthy. Your only talking a couple cents to a couple dollars difference for processed meat as opposed to fresh meat. Or eat smaller portions...you lose weight AND can have leftovers the next day.

  • They all look like a bunch of Ragamuffins dressed in those clothes.
