@adamski71 1) Egypt is secular, not muslim. While a large number of inhabitants are muslim, they remain secular. It would be like calling the US christian. 2) The Kuffiyeh is not ONLY for protection. It is primarily seen in the western world as a symbol of Palestinian liberation, both as a throwback to the war in the 1930s, and as a modern symbol against Israeli imperialism. 3) They can be worn by either a man or woman, due to its secular and political nature.
