This is simply gorgeous. Not even kidding when I say that my eyes fill up with tears of joy, just seeing this happen. It's funny how in years to come, we may look at this as a crude way of traveling, but hey, it's breathtaking for us in the here and now. May those on Atlantis' final journey make it safely and enjoy their stay in the space station. Godspeed.

Alright we are descending through the atmosphere if you look out your window if you have one you will see nothing but fire burning at 5000 degrees as we free fall towards earth at around 6-7 kilometers a second. When we touch down there will be peanuts. Or water. But not both.

Kicking off their work week with a Monday commute to Orbit". I just love the way Americans do this sort of stuff. Atlantis was burning half a ton of fuel per second!! Its speed doubled in the last 2 minutes before entering orbit. It was travelling at 6000 miles per hour after 8 minutes. Just. Wow.
