We had a Malamute called Ben. He was the most gentle dog; a true gentle giant. We all really miss him. He was such a part of the family. My kids used to dress him up and lie against him. It never bothered him.

@xxtasha10xx Are you out of your mind???? Owners fault?? You are so stupid. I had and alaskan malamute that was treated like one of the family. He is now dead because we had to shoot him to save my husbands life. We raised this malamute from a pup and never mistreated him. Was taking him for a walk when he decided to turn on his owner for NO REASON what so ever. If I hadn't been home because this happened in our own back yard. He would of killed my husband. You need educated BAD.

My mom says our Malamute Kiska was motherly nurturing like that too when I was a baby. Mom wasn't sure how she was going to react when she brought me home, but the story goes she'd go get my mom or my grandma when she heard me crying. I don't remember Kiska very well because she died when I was in grade school, but the few memories that I do have are good ones. :)

@YunlimiT idiot!
Malamutes were made this way..Tribes use to let their malamutes look after their kids while they went off hunting or doing whatever.Just because it's the 21st century and hardly anyone knows how to train a dog or treat one right,that's the dogs that hurt people.It's always the owners fault,never blame the breed.Just because 1 dog has hurt somebody doesn't mean the whole breed is dangerous.I've never heard anything about a malamute hurting anyone.

I remember my grandpa talking about when my dad was a baby. They were southern farmers, and if Granny had to go outside she'd tell her Malamute to watch the baby (my dad). They said one day he toddled out of the house with the dog trailing him. He started to go over by a thorn bush and before Granny could even get over to stop him the Malamute just snatched him up by the shirt and brought him to her xD
