Video of Denver Copwatcher being arrested for asking a Denver Police officer for his business card. The officer charged him with tresspassing in response to his asking the officer for a business card, which has a badge number that officers are to provide when asked by law. The charge was dropped after the the prosecutor saw the video, and the ACLU took the copwatcher's case. The case was reported in the Westword news paper on June 8 by Jessica Centers on page 20.

  • @jmar1371 I know. It sucks that the taxpayers are always burdened. I decided I didn't want money and wanted something meaningful at least included instead. Well, politics and civil law is all about money, so I just ended up going for less on condition that the DPD Training Bulletin be included as a condition of the settlement. That bulletin was the real victory, the substance, but I'd rather a real police oversight board be established, lawsuits don't solve the problem. Thanks for commenting :)

  • Do they have an IQ test for cops? Some of them don't seem overly bright. Also I suspect many of them are suffering from roid rage judging by the way they fly off the deep end.

  • @MrJackShrredder You know you could be on to something. Maybe it would be worth it to propose a departmental ordinance to City Council that all Denver Sheriffs and Police undergo a mandatory rectal exam before resuming duty. LOL!

  • Did anything happen to the cop, or was he permitted to just waste public resources on a whim???

  • @tharock220 In 2006-2007 I filed a lawsuit with the ACLU and won a settlement that included a Training Bulletin publicly issued to every pig on the force reminding them that they can't harass members of the public for observing, they can't arrest people in retaliation for asking for badge numbers, and when asked for a business card/badge number they must provide one on the spot - a Departmental Ordinance. It is also available online at the Colorado ACLU website.

  • Police know they are dirty, that's why they don't like to be filmed, they want to beat and mistreat people, they take out there frustrations of their marriages and whatever else out on citizens. They are too stupid to hold those badges and are given too much power. They are the front line to the Americas new and coming holocaust. Take care of yourselves out there. Plus, we have the right to watch what our cops are doing, because if we don't they will get away with everything like they have been

  • And we PAY these dipshits to "serve and protect" us? Police unions only serve to protect incompetent sociopaths.

  • The problem with receiving a settlement here is that the settlement is paid by the taxpayer, not the cop. Start taking the settlements out of police paychecks, and it may have an effect.

  • You ask for his card and you ge arrested. Dont you know you have to bow in front of a police officer.

  • LOL, and they wonder why their 'brother' pulls over a suspect and gets killed.

  • @pazyamor07 thats cool you made them read a bulletin. your on copwatch and you believe they read these bulletins. oh no a bulletin. theres no justice in a settlement. You can justify it how you want. But basically you give most the people who do this a bad name, as they actually see justice served not look for a hand out and get smoke blown in there ear. people have known bout the business cards for years. Nothing new here... this guy was on a authoritarian power trip and you failed the test.

  • @blueshiftchess you didn't read the article, or you are a pig on a different dept., or you'd know that my settlement included issuance of a training bulletin to the whole force reminding them that they must give their badge numbers/business cards when asked, and I made sure that bulletin is available to the public, so others can mention that, or even show a copy, when a pig squirms out of giving a badge number. And there is no justice in impunity for violent pigs! Pay attention next time!

  • @pazyamor07 well you chose to take money over see justice served. So ya nazi germany....

  • Sociopath Cop.

  • @pazyamor07 he asked for his ID for which he gave it to him,hm when asked for the card from the cop he was arrested. It seems the guy belonged in the area. This cop needs to be shown the door without pay for a while and if there is a "repeat",fire him.And let it be a gentle reminder to his co-workers that of they decided to pull the same shit that is what is in store for them.Hopefully thr Denver PD is reading this.

  • "Can I have your business card!"

"OKay pal you're going to jail!"
