Meade doesnt love Shelby. This is the commoon motiff of the poor boy marrying the rich girl because she pitties him and wants to brin ghim "up" in the world, but instead the poo rboy ends up bringing her down because he doesn't want her to have all that she has without him. Thi sis repeated throughout literature and life.

Why cant Shelby just think for her damn self. When it comes to love your not suppose to let others influence your decision based on race, income or etc. Its all about whats in your heart. But Shelby is too immature to realize that, she needs to follow her own sisters example. Meade in my opinion is to good for her. He refuses to let prejudice and financial desicions judge his feelings for Shelby, he loves her plain and simple. WTF is wrong with her, GROW UP and think for yourself.

He is a dirty old man perving on a young beautiful girl... just looking for someone to grope and look after his kids.. he should get a woman his own age or be a man and make his own wife look after their children in the appropriate manner... shelby is a little bitch.... she has someone who loves her truly and deep down she only doubts him because of her need for money...and then blames it on her parents, shes just feeling guilty and blaming every1 but herself
