So you expect the Americans to aid the entire world with their tax money? How many times have other countries stood and watched as the Americans helped aid Japan when the tsunami hit? Or what about Haiti? I can name countless times Americans helped other countries but all of a sudden when we do something that's "wasting" money on something another country can't achieve with get flank for it.

It beggars belief just how stupid some people are and of course these imbeciles have very short memories.
This bold and audacious achievement is unprecedented and should be applauded.
What most people do not realise is that the money spent will go to educate the world of our whereabouts, free of charge.
In other words, the american tax dollar is being given to the planet.
Thank you so much America for making our lives somewhat richer for its really appreciated.

Only $2.5 billion which is a tiny drop in the bucket. Also, this isn't just to find water, it's to find if there WAS water and if the planet supported life in it's past or still can. This project also created jobs in the field, but you wouldn't know that.
I guess by your understanding, we shouldn't be exploring space and looking if planet's in our own backyard supported life in the past or if there is life currently.

spending billions to find water on mars..while people here on this planet need water..is backwards for humanity..not forward.

I like how there are alot of ignorant people commenting about how "russia landed on the moon 30 years ago, Americans you're a little late" People this is the second time we've landed on the planet and you still have the audacity to try and hate on something that betters mankind as a whole. You retards need to get your priorities straight.

Wow you're an idiot. Did you even bother to do some research on this before you commented, it would have helped you look like less of a retard.

if it takes people 2 years to get to mars, just pack food, a tent, some good tools, and bring some seeds to plant a crop. You may croke within 24 hours because of no water and without water Mars is a worthless mission.
