@MrCharles3223 Pro Tools is compatible with Windows but the Windows version is a port of the original Mac version and Avid doesn't seem to be bothered with fixing many of the bugs in the Windows version. If you're on a PC I would recommend using a different DAW.

Why is everyone making such a huge deal out of clip gain? Hasn't Adobe Audition had that for the longest time now? It seems to me that Pro tools is just catching up.

I using PTLE 8.0.5 with waves 8. Is 10 compatible with waves 8?
-
Cockos Reaper already had all these features, plus more. And it's way cheaper, and faster, and more flexible. And logical and super intuitive. It's a shame Pro Tools is considered the "industry standard".

Hey Graham quick question, I own a digi 003 rack and I am using Pro Tools 8 LE. Would Pro Tools 10 be fully compatible with this hardware?
-
@TheSIMBAJUDAH amen bro i use that software too :D

I've heard that Pro Tools isn't very compatible with Windows...Is there any truth to that?
-
Every DAW ive seen but PT has had clip gain for years.
I heard they removed Xpand and Vacuum plugins, is it true? :-/

@jericho667 Not true. You get all the same virtual instruments as before.

Hey Graham got a personal question to ask you...when I heard of pro tools 10 and its disk cacheing features..that was what I was most excited about..then I found out it was only to be included on PT 10 HD and native versions with the Toolkit which is like 1000 bucks extra..so I was very bummed about the whole thing...whats your opinion on the matter? I personally think it should've been included with the 300+ dollar upgrade fee.

@BeyondtheEndMetal Yeah, wished Disk Cache was included in PT10, but as I mentioned the sessions operate faster to me than before. Even old PT9 sessions seem zippier in PT10.

How can you not mention how amazing recording/mixing in 32-bit float is?! That was huge for me. The audio quality is like switching from regular tv to HD. Everything got clearer, more headroom, better sounding, etc... 32-bit float is epic. Yeah, the WAV/AIFF files are bigger, but so what? IMO, if you're doing that much recording and mixing, you should have a computer with enough memory/processing power and hard drive space anyway to handle it. If not, external hard drives these days are CHEAP.

@PeteWojMusic To me 32 bit float isn' that big of a deal. PT LE was always a 32 bit float mix engine and all the plugs process at 32 bit float anyway. It's nice to know we can audiosuite or bounce down to 32 bit within a session, but it doesn't change what we're recording since audio interfaces still record at 24 bit.
