5 Phases of Changing your Hogwarts House on Pottermore

Has the Hogwarts house you've always KNOWN you were in suddenly been discounted by Pottermore? Not sure what to do? Well, you're in luck! In this video, Rachel Keeler walks you through the five likely stages of Pottermore house changing all the way through to acceptance!

P.s. I am a Hffulepuff on Pottermore as well as in "real life". But I have a lot of friends who got sorted into "surprise' houses. This is for them.

I know this so well! I was sorted into Slytherin! I have always been a Ravenclaw, and I did these five stages exactly!

i'm going through the same thing now. see, in the real stuff, harry says our choice is taken into consideration. but NOT HERE!!!! i got ravenclaw, i want gryffindor.

@fantasyfangirlno1 Sounds like you're still in the anger phase. Next comes bargaining. I'll help you compose a letter to Jo if you like! :) (p.s. also remember that, in the end, it's only an internet quiz. Granted it's the closest thing we've got to the real hat. But it's still not real. It's not the end of the world. You can still be a Gryffindor if you like :))

If only we could swap houses ! I got Hufflepuff but I am most definitely a Ravenclaw. Soo not pleased with Pottermore.

@fantasyfangirlno1 There is a difference between us and Harry. He fit two houses. That is why his choice was taken into consideration.

There are other cases where a person asked to be place into a house but the Hat refused because it wasn't right for them. This happened with Nevile. He asked to be placed into Hufflepuff, but the hat chose Gryffindor. Which was perfect for him.

Also sometimes the hat does consider our choice but only when we are fit for both houses. This is known as a Hatstall
