Confusing, but the Trumpet Tune in D is also Clarke's. It is part of the incidental music for Clarke's Island Princess, co-written with Henry Purcell's younger brother. You can hear it in this (/watch?v=VzNl9dtaDu8) video, starting at 3:21.

Thanks so much I have to play this as a solo and none of my band directors play trumpet. This really helped me heat how it should be played thanks again :):):)

The Trumpet Voluntary was wrongly attributed to Purcell during the 19th Century, but this has since been rectified. Purcell himself certainly didn't steal it, dying as he did approx 5 years before it was written..........

The "Trumpet Tune" was written by Clarke for the semi-opera "The Island Princess", which was produced with Purcell's brother, which led to the confusion. Jacarradicefrench is right.

At my first wedding we played Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary for the bride to enter because we felt it was very grand and regal. Music to suit a beautiful bride in flowing white veils to enter the church. For the procession of the newly weds we played Purcells Trumpet Tune because it is lighter and more celebratory. "Rejoice you all in this union sing songs and be merry"! The divorse came 11 years later. There was no singing then, just the gnashing of teeth!
