This is an Obscura Digital 8 channel Surround Projection System at Carnegie Hall with Michael Tilson Thomas and the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. We installed this system for a one night show for the debut of YouTubes Symphony Orchestra. We worked with Google and MTT to create visuals that represented the tone of each piece as well as the era that the piece was created in. The goal was to match visuals to the music to highlight how technology can layer on top of classical music. This particular piece is performed live by Mason Bates, and it rocked the house.

  • What camera did you use to record this just out of interest?

Oh and kudos on the projection and visuals, i watched your igoogle stuff and the house in SF, looks awesome.

  • Thanks! oddly enough, the only camera i had on me was my 5D MK II. I had planned on just shooting stills, but threw on a .24mm f1.4 fixed lens and let it roll. It is a little shakey, considering it was handheld but worked out in low light.

  • thanks, it was not easy, but it rocked.

  • Nice thats pretty cool i know they shoot in HD so not bad quality in low light like you say. thanks for letting me know, reason i asked is because i am looking in to getting small HD camera so thought whatever you where using might be a good recommendation but i defo can't afford the 5D :P

  • badass, but it felt like the same 10 seconds were looped over and over again lol

  • The visuals really added to the overall presentation of the concert.
