The civil marriage ceremony is held in front of witnesses and representatives of both families and attested by a notary. Then everyone begins dancing again. There seemed to be more group dancing at the wedding than at the henna night. The dancing begins leisurely but quickens. The older men join in, dancing with their arms locked over their neighbours' shoulders in a wheel outside the circle of women. The leaders of both the men and women wave a piece of cloth signifying their status.
