HVAC - Never Trust Sparky

Another example of why you should never trust an electrician. They don't care about you. I have more bad experiences with them than good. Not one of them will ever accept blame. They just seem to hate us HVAC guys.

I'm wondering if the customer is paying all these guys who make videos of these repairs or diagnostic checks...I know if I saw an a/c tech making a video instead of fixing my a/c, his azz would be out that door. It took him longer to walk back and forth to "show" us the problem then it would've taken him to just switch the wires. Who cares about the desert!!! FIX THE PROBLEM AND MAKE THE CUSTOMER HAPPY...SHEESH.

@CHULAYSOLO This was an AM warranty call, so I kicked it back to Sparky. I had a long day ahead of me and lots more important things to do than fix his mistake. Electricians are generally not very happy about having to repair their own easily avoidable screw-ups. By the way... are you an electrician?

If you're saying that electricians hate hvac guys you're right. The hvac guys are the hacks when it comes to electrical work (and hvac work too). They aren't trained for it and they do the work with no electrical license (C-10). I've seen more hackery from the hvac trade than electricians! Why are you looking for someone to "accept blame"?In fact, hackfreehvac has plenty of videos for evidence. Why don't you check it out?

I've seen hackfree's stuff and I fully agree that some HVAC guys hack their HVAC work. I've also seen my fair share of careless work by electricians working for licensed contractors. That's why I will not trust ANY electrical work done by others. My electrical work passes code. I'm not licensed to do it but that doesn't stop me from doing it correctly. I am allowed to do any aspect of HVAC related to electrical, plumbing, roofing or mechanical.

It's been awhile since I've been tuned-up by a panel that wasn't marked properly. I routinely check for stray power whenever I work with line voltage. It's good practice to be on the safe side.

One of my biggest knocks against AireFlo is that cheesy bullet-type line drier they install inside their condensing units. The tiny mesh screen inside of it is prone to be being clogged by oxidation left over from the brazing process. New construction installers simply do not have the allotted time to flow nitro through the lines to avoid it. Amana/Goodman installs tiny canister-type line driers in new units. I remove them and install 16 cubic inch driers (externally) when I replace compressors

@PutSome5tankOnIt so i'm not alone on that, i used to think of it as crap back when i started about 7 years ago cuz that's what the guys i worked with used on their sidejob cuz it was cheap,i've always installed trane and american standard.I started installing trane about a month ago and i'm starting to like them better than trane except for their stupid condensate drain "system" wish they kept it simple like trane

I'm a converted electrician to hvac and I agree, ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK!!! Use your dmm or liar stick, many men have been harmed by mislabeled or incorrect wiring...
