One of the most moving scenes in the history of film. Bravo for posting it!

"Anxiety, sickness, suffering, or danger now and then with a foregoing of the common conveniences and charities of this life, may make us pause and cause the spirit to waver and the soul to sink; but let this only be for a moment. All these are nothing when compared with the glory which shall be revealed in and for us. I never made a sacrifice."- Dr. David Livingstone at Cambridge University, 4 December 1857

@samuel9822 Thanks! If you ever get around to posting the entire film, I would be most appreciative. It has the misfortune of coming out in 1939 and had plenty of competition (Gone With the Wind, Wizard of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington....).

Thank you for posting this. Although, of course, the matter is debatable, I always imagined this encounter as occurring in a more sprightly manner, with Stanley less hesitant, as if it were a foregone conclusion it was actually Dr. Livingstone. What a shame this isn't available on DVD.
Unfortunately, this film is currently not available on DVD. Try Amazon for a VHS copy.
