In this faintly disquieting New Year greeting, shown in cinemas towards the end of 1949, Father Time meets a sticky end as the New Year beckons.

  • My dad wis born this year:)

  • Too funny! They wish good health, right after Santa deals out death with the cancer sticks!! Haha! So much fun seeing these old classics, when people ACTUALLY had to go to the movie houses to see these!!

  • The old man segment looks like a Melies film :)

  • I was so sure this was an American film. Now I also wonder whether its that or British. Still like it, even if some people may find it scary.

  • The advent of the most prosperous decade ever, 3 decades of technology coming to market delayed first by depression and then by war, produced with a manufacturing capacity bolsterd for wartime production & desperate to run at full capacity in peacetime.

That's why the 50s can never happen again..........

  • They wish Prosperity, then Health, then Happiness. I think it should be the other way around. What is Prosperity, Health good for when you are not happy? And what is prosperity for when you are dying? ... You should be happy in the first place, then health helps, and if you have both, then you can start caring about prosperity.

  • Happy New Year!

  • If only a film institute or film archive had posted this so we could have been informed about who created it.
