High-quality MP3: http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/123

This is Virgil Fox's arrangement of "Now Thank We All Our God." It is being performed on my home organ which is running Hauptwerk v3.

The sample set is the Notre Dame de Metz Cavaille-Coll (though as you can hear, it does quite well as an American Classic) by Milan Digital Audio.

I have amplified the recit chorus reeds by 7.5 dB each using the voicing feature.

  • i know how to play thise song by ear ,but its hard playing it on a one manuel key board.

  • I can imagine. Seems to me that you'd need at least 2 manuals to be able to perform this one.

  • Where would I get one of these instruments? And where did you learn to play so well?

  • As far as getting a Hauptwerk instrument, check out crumhorn-labs (.) com. Thank you for the compliment on my playing. My teacher is Ken Udy, and I'd say that any organist would be lucky to have a teacher like him.

  • Excellent playing. Thank you. I'm playing it this Sunday. Flashing lights do not bother me. After all, music is primarily heard. And, if you were playing in a cathedral we wouldn't be able to see you anyhow! As for "Bach's articulation" ... well, it's not Bach's arrangement, is it? Loosen up a little, folks!

  • Wow!!!!

Where i can find the score??? I'd want to play it!!!

  • It's a good sound and very good to playing.

I have self also hauptwerk, with the sampleset Vollenhove

in the netherlands. Thank you for this video.

    greetings!

  • @davlber221 Bach's articulation? Once Fox gets hold of it, it ain't Bach anymore!

  • Indeed "Now Thank We All Our God", you have captured what its all about. The last time I was that thrilled was hearing Virgil play it on Bach's own organ Leipsig in1979 a year prior to Virgil's death. Listening below was a visiting group from China who could not believe their expierience of joy and love in this Christian place, as they believed there was no God. I thought later, some did some deep thinking after they left. David Snyder, Lumierist/Heavy Organ Productions

  • Whats with the flashing lights?! Loses something in the transition.

Lots of slurring going on. Update yourself on the technical aspect of Bach's articulation!

  • Whats with the flashing lights?! Loses something in the transition.

  • It is great seeing a younger person (and a geek to boot) keeping this wonderful music and skill alive. Organists amaze me with their coordination and I love the sound.

  • Beautifully played Rob. What are the flashing lights on the left end of the manuals?

  • As an organist for more years than Id lke to admit, I was quite simply BLOWN away by the sound of this machine. I must have one. Your execution was perfect I dont ever remember hearing any better. You are truly gifted and blessed. Please let me have some information on this machine. WRKOUTFUN@YAHOO.COM
