@Freepepsi42 I don't know much about the military or any details what-so-ever all i got the info from my friend who's in the US army and the USAF did save lot of his ass there even coalition allies. Like i said, though FF are tragic and as long human is involved mistake will be made. We humans are not perfect and we tried to prevent it friendly fire incidents from happening again. That's how human life is.
@Hperman09 yeah but i would expect Everyone to have some sort of technology _ir patches) that tell them who is who that's why we have them, i know the us air force is not bad i have a friend who went to afghanistan said they were the best but i still don't get it that you shoot at people who have the IR patch still that confuses me.
@Freepepsi42 Sometimes it's hard to see from 10,000 from the ground. Of course you going to have some idiots in the army but we flyed 95% of them and most of the coalition allies don't have enough resources to get their own so they hand over the air-support to us. Since we flyed 95% of them, chances are the most of the incidents will involved the US army. Plus there is no training to prevent it only lessen the chances of it. Even in the heat of the battle.
@Hperman09 lack of identification most if not all FF's against caandian troops were by American pilots who thought they were the taliban, and this is what happend for all FF involving aircraft in Afghanistan, IR patches were supposed to prevent this.
@Freepepsi42 Ya i know but still fog of war happens. Majority of FFs wasn't intentional and mostly by accident. Down to miscommunication and lack of training can be to blame for this. btw just two days ago April 2nd 2011 a NATO(US, UK or French aircraft maybe?) air-strike killed 13 Libyan rebels when they mistook them for the Gadhafi's forces in eastern Libya.
This is also where the infamous friendly fire incident took place. In April 18, 2002, a USAF F-18 jet dropped a bomb on the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, killing 4 and wounded 8 while conducting a training exercise. It was the first Canadian casualties since the Korean War in a major coalition operation.
Very Tragic and friendly fire are unfortunate part of war.
FACT: Iraq/Afghan war has the lowest blue on blue in human history which people neglect to look at.
They found evidence that he's spent his last days half-dressed, eating chips off his chest while playing Halo 2.
